“Something I didn’t expect when I chose UCLA is how connected I feel to the Bruin community no matter where I am. One of my favorite UCLA tradition is Dinner for 12 Strangers, which is when alumni, faculty, and students share a meal and conversation. I’ve gone to a D12 each year I’ve been a student and knowing we all have UCLA experiences in common always helps get rid of awkwardness and hesitation.”

Megana Sekar, Recent Graduate, Major: Political Science

“Besides the amazing academics, my favorite part about UCLA is the inborn sense of community. When you come to UCLA, you immediately become part of the Bruin network, which extends far beyond LA, California, and even the United States. Bruins live around the world but are woven together by the fabric of the UCLA experience, and being a student here means weaving a bit of that fabric for yourself, too.”

Conner Ching, Student, Major: Statistics, Minor: Digital Humanities and Entrepreneurship

“UCLA was my dream school from the first time I visited, even if I hadn’t admitted to myself. When I first toured UCLA, the thing that stuck out to me most was how happy every student looked. I saw so many students smiling, wearing UCLA gear, and looking genuinely at home.”

Sachi Cooper, Student, Major: Geography

“UCLA has opened so many doors for me, has allowed me to visit countries I never envisioned myself visiting, and has given me a community that I am forever grateful for. I live by a quote, “we are all one choice away from a completely different life,” and my choice to attend UCLA changed my life completely! By far one of the best decisions I have ever made.”

Armando L., Recent Graduate, Major: Chicana/o Studies and Sociology, Minor: Education

“By the time my high school career was coming to an end, I could only associate UCLA with the sense of community and family that I got from VIP Scholars. When college admissions came out, I was relieved that I got in. I did have other choices, but none of the other schools I got into had that sense of security that I got from being surrounded by my community at UCLA.”

Mia G., Recent Graduate, Major: American Literature & Culture and African American Studies
“UCLA is an amazing university, there’s a reason why we’re considered one of the top public universities in the country every year. We love it and we can’t wait to share this message with you throughout the week.”
Gary Clark, Director of Undergraduate Admission

“The values of optimism and leadership have always been important to me. I have always believed in the ability of people to be agents of positive change in their communities. So, when it came time for me to decide where to attend college, UCLA was at the top of my list because it shared my core values.”

Lauren Valles, Student, Major: Political Science
